Post 2014 scenario: UNODC fears spike in poppy cultivation

UNODC warns of possible spread of poppy cultivation in Balochistan after withdrawal of Nato forces from Afghanistan.

QUETTA: United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Pakistan (UNODC) has warned of a possible spread of poppy cultivation in Balochistan after the withdrawal of Nato forces from Afghanistan. UNODC representative Cesar Guedes on Wednesday urged Balochistan CM Dr Abdul Malik Baloch to keep a check on poppy cultivation. Dr Abdul Malik said the provincial government was taking strict steps for eradication of drugs smuggling.
