Nandipur Project: First test of 100MW turbine successful

PM Nawaz Sharif will formally inaugurate the power project turbine by end of month, 6 months before stipulated time.

The first test of the 100 megawatt turbine of the Nandipur Power Project conducted late on Tuesday was successful.


All technical tests of the first gas turbine including performance, sound, temperature and vibration proved to be successful. The turbine was run at a speed of 500RPM per minute.


Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will formally inaugurate the Nandipur Power Project turbine by the end of the month, six months before the stipulated time.


The turbine will operate at the speed of 3,000 RPM and will add 100 megawatts to the national grid.  Briefing the media, Project Manager and Chief Engineer Nandipur Power Station Muhammad Ahmed said that different sections of the turbine will be operated during the next two weeks to conduct further tests.


Regarding the second turbine, he said that work on it was continuing apace.

" six months before the stipulated time." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Any one can google and find out the chequered history of this lonng delayed project. And let me not even talk about the cost over run and the cost of the electricty generated!. six months before the stipulated time.....thats like moving the goal post......
