Dispute resolution councils (DRC) will change the police station culture and ensure smooth settlement of disputes, said IGP Nasir Khan Durrani at the oath-taking ceremony of the Cantt dispute resolution council at Malik Saad Shaheed Lines on Wednesday.
He said previous DRCs were a success which is why they have extended it to Cantt. The council has been established at Gulberg police station and has seven committees comprising three members each.
“Our justice system is outdated and when certain civil disputes are not settled they lead to crimes such as murder,” the IGP said. In the past three months, the city DRC has handled 57 disputes and helped investigate 31 enquiries.
Later, justice (retired) Faseehul Mulk administered oath to the DRC members.
