Rape in Mansehra

Letter May 14, 2014
If action is taken at all, punishments are not harsh enough to deter the future occurrence of crime.

MANSEHRA: As I write this letter, my hand shivers and my soul is in complete grief. Today, a schoolgirl was gang-raped in Mansehra. The rapists also made a video of the incident to blackmail her.

Even though I am glad that the rapists were apprehended by the police, I am in distress because this is not the first rape incident in our country. More or less thousands of cases have been registered against rapists but no action is ever taken. If action is taken at all, punishments are not harsh enough to deter the future occurrence of crime.

My plea to the officials concerned is that punishment for rapists should be made harsher because these heartless criminals are posing a threat to our mothers and sisters.
