The election body had come under fire on various occasions for what critics call its ineffective role during the May 11 elections last year.
Recently during a massive rally in Islamabad, Imran had made similar demands calling for the constitution of a new election commission.
“The current body is not an election commission but a selection commission,” he had said.
Today, Shah said that the ECP members should have resigned when their chief Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim vacated his post in July 2013. Ebrahim, one of the country’s most respected jurists, oversaw the 2013 general elections of Pakistan.
“The whole nation and not just Imran desires the overhaul of Pakistan’s electoral system,” Shah added.

this is topi drama of Khurshid shah.....want to delay the L.B for another 4 years
I salute the vision of Tahir ul Qadri who told prior to election that everybody in this election will be weeping as a result of fraudulent election commission.
@Mamu and Ik following foot steps of TUQ. Be fair please.
" the whole nation not just Imran desires the overhaul of Pakistan's electoral system ".....PPP leader just realized.....wow ! when it was demanded by Dr Qadri most people and political leaders including same PPP PML N was calling names and criticizing Dr Qadri....suddenly what happened to all.....?
@Adnan Siddiqi: Not even close to Zia "Example". PMLN troll detected.
Interesting, the ECP was constituted by his boss Zardari and their trusted Fakhruddin G.Ibrahim was appointed CEC!!!!
People need to understand that this move is not to support imran or to winore seats or to topple the government. Independent election commission is a step towards free and fair elections, this to stop any rigging in the future regardless of who you support u cant be against fair elections in the future, I most certainly dont want to be deprived of my right to vote.
Day before yesterday he was saying protest is not the right way to get things like this done. Today he suddenly woke up to match his voice to that of Imran's. Somebody elbowed him to show him who is the real opposition leader in the country.
Yeah the corruption party thugs have done massive rigging in interior Sind and now crying as per their tradition of blackmailing
@Mamu:
We all know whose "Example" IK is leading, the example based out of Aabpara....naughty IK.
Further slap on PMLN little whiners.
@ Umar ... You do understand this whole process (Protests etc) is not only about a vote recount but to make the process more transparent and fair. why would any reasonable person be against this, is beyond me. Imran Khan is a true and just leader, slowly but surely other opposition parties will join him so they can pin there name to one of the historic achievements in this country tainted history. Well done IK and all the PTI workers.
The leader of opposition clearly does not realise what an independent election commission means and does!!
Good to see others following the foot steps of IK. He leads by example. That is his beauty.
As for the haters: No matter what you say! PTI all the way!
If they had left some principles, they should have joined PTI in Islamabad on May, 11.
