The bowling consultant contract is for two years, which Mushtaq signed this morning, taking charge of his new position.
The former stalwart is the second important appointee in the Pakistan team setup after another legendary player Waqar Younis was appointed as head coach recently.
Mushtaq had a close fight with fellow player Saqlain Mushtaq for the bowling consultant; however, the board has preferred him due to his vast experience at the international level.
In addition, compared to Saqlain, he is closer to Waqar as they earlier played together for UBL and Multan.
The former leg-spinner during his career took 185 test and 161 one-day wickets and helped Pakistan win the 1992 World Cup.

I think the selection of Mushtaq is better as we are not having any quality leg spinners in our system and by his assistance we would get someone mastered in this trick too. Also, Pakistani batsmen generally not so good against quality leg spinners, so he would also be helpful in this regard.
The googly of Mushtaq will give pakistani blowling some extra benifits. I pray for his success in cricket.

England hired him after the Pakistani courts banned him over match fixing. Match fixer or not nothing can change the fact that he is a highly skilled bowler and he taught the English all his tricks. Now the PCB has hired him as well. What happened to the court's verdict? If you had to hire him wouldn't it have been better to do so years ago instead of letting the English grab him and learn all his trade secrets?

Saqlain would have been a better option since there are no leg spinners coming through the system except for the talented Salman Qadir. Besides, Saqlian also happens to be an intelligent batsman who can coach our batsmen on how to handle quality spinners.
