Hand grenade attack in Khuzdar injures 12

Khuzdar police say unidentified assailants hurl grenade near Eidgah Chowk, grenade lands in front of a restaurant.

QUETTA: At least 12 people were wounded in a hand grenade attack near Eidgah Chowk, downtown of Khuzdar district, late on Sunday.

According to Khuzdar police, unidentified assailants hurled a hand grenade near Eidgah Chowk and managed to escape from the scene. The grenade landed and exploded in front of a restaurant, injuring 12 bystanders.

The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Khuzdar for medical treatment.

Police and rescue workers reached the site of the attack soon after the explosion. The police have launched the investigation into the incident.

Khuzdar is one of the volatile districts in Balochistan where there are a number of pro as well as anti-government militant groups operating.

No group claimed responsibility of the attack till the filing of this report.
