“The appointment of honourable judges will be made under the recommendations of Judicial Commission as mentioned in the 18th Amendment of the Constitution of Pakistan,” the Supreme Court said while clarifying a news item published in this paper on Sunday.
Clarifying some content of the story wherein the registrar Supreme Court Dr Faqir Hussain was quoted as saying that the chief justice will forward a summary to the prime minister for fresh appointment two weeks before the retirement of an apex court judge, the media office of the apex court said it was not true.
It is important to mention here that the Supreme Court in its interim order on 18th amendment, though sent Article 175-A to the Parliament for review, did not give any stay order against the procedure adopted by the parliament in the constitutional amendment.
Recalling Article 1,2 and 5 of Code of Ethics for Journalists the media office emphasised that media persons should keep in mind their responsibility, professional integrity, social respect and respect for human dignity and should not be discriminating the basic codes of journalism while publishing stories.
