Healthy activities : Students receive sports goods
The state minister said the government wanted to promote healthy activities among the youth.
FAISALABAD:
Sports goods worth Rs2 million were distributed among 100 students by the city government. A ceremony was held for the purpose at Government MC Higher Secondary School at Kotwali Road. State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali was the chief guest. DCO Noorul Amin Mengal, MPA Mian Tahir Jamil, EDO Education Syed Waheedud Din Shah and Principal Muhammad Iqbal Rao were also present. The state minister said the government wanted to promote healthy activities among the youth. He said the government had started a number of programmes for this. He said the Punjab Youth Festival had concluded on a high note and other provinces had shown interest in holding youth festivals. He appreciated the steps taken by the district administration for provision of sports equipment to school students. “Sports are vital for mental and physical development of the youth,” he said. He lauded the efforts of DCO Noorul Amin Mengal for launching a talent hunt programme and arranging national events of various games at Faisalabad for promotion of sports. The minister presented a cheque for Rs500,000 to the principal for the basketball court. DCO Mengal said sports goods were being provided to public schools by the district sports committee.
