KARACHI:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in talks with its England counterpart for a bilateral series of their respective U17 squads as the board seeks to give maximum playing exposure to rising stars against international teams.

The PCB recently appointed Basit Ali as the junior chief selector and the former cricketer had said that the Pakistan U17 team will travel to England after his meeting with chairman Najam Sethi.

However, The Express Tribune has learnt that the series with England will be a bilateral one instead of a one-sided affair. The PCB wants the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to send its team on reciprocal basis.

When a PCB official was contacted about the development, he confirmed that the board is in talks to stage a bilateral U17 series.

“It’s true that we want a bilateral series with England,” he said. “Pakistan U17 are expected to travel to England in August, but we anticipate England to reciprocate by sending their team in February 2015 for our home leg. Only time and the security situation here can tell whether we’ll host England U17 in Dubai or Pakistan.”
