He also remarked that overseas Pakistanis send money to Pakistan but the elite class sends it back to the foreign banks.
Speaking about corruption prevalent in Pakistan, the JI ameer stated that the corruption needed to be stopped and if it was brought under control there will be no need to take loans from the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund.
'Time to serve'
During the press conference, Haq stated that playing politics should be put on the backburner and leaders should focus on serving the citizens.
Referring to the federal government's promises, the JI ameer said that Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz should honour its manifesto because problems such as lawlessness, inflation, unemployment and load-shedding still existed in the country.
Haq also mentioned that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government wanted to compete with the Punjab government in terms of the service they were providing to the public.
Conspiracy against democracy
The JI ameer said that he "will not be part of any conspiracies against democracy which will bring undemocratic forces into power".
He further added that there should be a consensus on national issues among all political parties, government as well as the opposition.

@antanu I would say 25% for India.
"The elite class has taken control of 95% of the resources of the country, claimed Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Sirajul Haq"
Surprise, surprise! Pakistan was created to protect the wealth, land holdings, privilege and power of the Indian Muslim elites. That this raison d'etre continues as Pakistan's national priority should be hardly surprising.
A theoretical question. The moment someone control the wealth, he becomes elite . For any business entireprice there will be atleast more than 20 workforce. So automatically the ratio of elite to others will be 1 to 20. So what is wrong in this?
Still better than the USA where the elites control 98% of wealth :p
@antanu: What if India believes in such model. Siraj is saying he disagrees with trickle down economics. This sure is the model for the rich and privileged few.
Not a big deal. ..Over here in India. ..1% holds 99% of resources. its a sad commentary on subcontinental affairs. ..you don't need to be an economist or communist to ascertain the fact.
I disagree with siraj
I think elite do lot of work too
elite get everything. poor suffer
Love him as the new ameer. Maybe he'll be able to make the party better
Finally someone religious who makes sense
I actually agree with a lot of what hes saying
Love his speeches
He's the boss
completely agree
...and the 5% religious fanatics controls the minds of the majority.
rightly said but who is going to address it as a common man is sleeping
Qabil Khan, He is not mulla.
Not to forget 100% of country's future is held hostage by the corrupt and religious zealots politicians
and religious parties contribute around 99% extremism and terrorism in Pakistan.
There is nothing wrong in criticizing the elite classes, but are you not one of them ? Mr Sirajul Haq kindly let citizens know how much Income Tax you have remitted to the State Treasury in each of the last three years. If leaders claim they are an Angel and all the others looters, how can the nation progress ?
So he has ultimately realized that all these years they were playing politics & not serving the people who elects them.....the time has come to serve them.
If our govt can bring in $200 billion stashed in Swiss banks as informed & confirmed by Mr Dar in NA....do we need to continue begging..? it need political will...let us see how sincere this govt is ?It is a rare occasion when I agree with a Mulla but he is right on the button this time.
As a hangover from the British Raj days, for 67 years the country has been a playground for businessmen, bureaucrats, landowners, generals and politicians to make hay at the expense of the 'natives' who now count well over a hundred million souls. It is time the 'E-light' stopped treating this country as their profit making colony. Because of their narrow-minded selfishness we lost East Pakistan in 1971 and now we are close to losing Balochistan.
The JI ameer said that he “will not be part of any conspiracies against democracy which will bring undemocratic forces into power”. He should remember that:
“Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.” ― James Bovard, Lost Rights: The Destruction of American Liberty
