MIRANSHAH: Security forces have arrested 55 suspects in a search operation launched after Thursday’s bombing in Ghulam Khan tehsil of North Waziristan Agency in which nine Frontier Corps officials were killed and one critically injured. A security official said the suspects were under interrogation while a curfew remained imposed across the agency. Government offices and educational institutions were closed in the agency while businesses were also shut down due to which a high number of people were stranded at the Miranshah bus stand and on the Bannu-Miranshah Road. The official said suspected militant hideouts were also targeted after Thursday’s attack. An official of the political administration said dozens of families have moved out of their homes and gone to Khost province of Afghanistan to avoid becoming victims of the army’s shelling.
