Ambushed: Two killed, one injured in gun attack

Separately, aerial firing claims life, leaves two others wounded.

Two people were killed while a child was injured when unidentified persons ambushed a rickshaw in Kotli Imam area of DI Khan on Friday.


Police said the assailants approached the rickshaw in a red vehicle and opened fire, killing two people and injuring a child. One of the deceased was identified as Fazal Din, who hailed from the Mehsud tribe of Ladha in South Waziristan, while the identity of the other person could not be ascertained. The injured child, Muhammad Kashif, is a resident of Najafabad. He was shifted to District Headquarters and Teaching Hospital, DI Khan where he is said to be out of danger.

Cantt police later reached the site and cordoned off the area. A search operation was also launched but the perpetrators managed to flee by then. Police claimed the incident seemed to have taken place over a personal rivalry, but added the injured child was not part of the deceased’s family.

In a separate incident in Mur Yalee, a person was killed while two others were injured during aerial firing at a musical programme. Police said the concert was taking place at Atif’s wedding. Muhammad Ali Hasnain, 12, died on the spot while Imam Bakhash and Sher Muhammad were injured and rushed to District Headquarters and Teaching Hospital. Atif, who accompanied the injured to the hospital, was arrested by the police from the premises.
