EOBI land scam: Court refuses bail to three suspects

An anti-corruption court dismisses the bail applications of three suspects in the EOBI land scam case.

KARACHI: An anti-corruption court dismissed on Wednesday the bail applications of three suspects in the EOBI land scam case. Judge Tasneem Sultana of the Special Federal Anti-Corruption Court Central-II refused to grant bail to Wahid Khursheed Kunwar, Ali Asad Mirza and Qasim Prevez. Former chairman Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) Zafar Iqbal Gondal, the then director-general (investment) EOBI Wahid Khursheed Kunwar, former head of the EOBI investment committee and the caretaker minister in Sindh, Iqbal Dawood Pakwala, Ali Asad Mirza, Qasim Pervez, a representative of Kunwar and others have been booked for their alleged involvement in the purchase of a four-acre piece of land in 2011-12 near the airport on a hefty payment that caused huge loss to the national exchequer.
