BDU Assistant Inspector General Shafqat Malik said the vehicles, which were provided a month ago, have new explosive defusing technology imported from the UK.
With the addition of these, the total number of BDU vehicles in K-P now stands at 13. “They (the vehicles) have bomb suits, an X-ray machine which is used to x-ray images of improvised explosive devices, mine detectors which are used to defuse landmines, metal detectors and jammers.”
He added the irony is that the vehicles to be used in defusing bombs are not even bulletproof.
“In the past, several BDS officials have been killed due to lack of protection,” said Malik.
He, however, admitted the new vehicles would help the squad reach the sites much faster.

Thanks for the brainless reporting due to which all the TTP cadres know that the first responders and the Bomb Disposal Units can be shot at since their vehicles are not bullet proof. Should this type of information not be kept away from public?
Is Ihtisham Khan only looking to get paid for reporting even if it costs the lives of these BDU people? Does Express Tribune exercise no editorial oversight for such irresponsible articles?
