Chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Sunday asked the government to either convene an all-parties conference (APC) or a meeting of parliamentary leaders to come up with a strategy to restore peace in the country.
Speaking at a public gathering in Landi Arbab village on the outskirts of the provincial capital, he said the present peace talks failed and urged negotiators representing the Taliban not to create any misunderstanding between the army and the government.
Talking about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest against alleged rigging in the general elections, Sherpao said Imran Khan should have done so soon after the elections.
“This is unprecedented: A party protesting against rigging one year after the elections,” he said, adding he was surprised that the Jamaat-e-Islami had announced joining the protest.
