RAWALPINDI: A member of the Pakistan security forces was killed near Bajaur Agency on Sunday, according to Inter Services Public relations (ISPR).

The soldier was killed at 11:45 in the morning as a result of firing from Afghanistan.

Previous incidents

On May 1, Afghan security officials claimed that their troops killed 60 militants near the border. Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said five Afghan soldiers were injured during the attack.

And earlier in September last year, the government had lodged a strong protest with Kabul after Afghan security forces killed at least five Pakistani citizens close to the Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan.

“The Afghan charge d’affaires was summoned to the Foreign Office and a strong protest was lodged over indiscriminate firing by Afghan border police near Godwana village, Zhob district, which resulted in the martyrdom of five innocent Pakistanis,” said the foreign ministry statement.
