QUETTA: A prominent provincial lawmaker of Balochistan, MPA Amanullah Notezai, led a protest sit-in on RCD Highway near Pak-Iran border town of Taftan demanding the authorities to allow smuggling of petrol, diesel and liquefied gas (LPG) to continue. FC and Pakistan Customs have seized more than 55,000 litres of petrol and diesel and around 24,000 kg LPG near Taftan, in Chagai district on Thursday. Customs and FC Taftan Scouts in a joint operation impounded around 30 vehicles carrying smuggled petrol and diesels and LPG. “The people of Chagai are very poor and rely on transportation of petrol and diesel. Smuggling is the only source of income for the people living in Chagai. They will starve if it is stopped by security forces,” said Notezai.
