Father of late Captain Salman Sarwar, who died in Khyber Agency during an operation, told Express News that Sarwar was his only son and he was proud of him for giving his life for his country.
“He saw me in uniform and must have idealised me and the army, because the army is supreme, which made him change his career path," his father said.
He also added that if he had more sons they would have done the same.
Salman Sarwar had initially studied pre-med at the Government College University Lahore before deciding to join the armed forces.
The 5th Youm-e-Shuhada (Day of Martyrs) is being observed in Pakistan on Wednesday to pay a special tribute to other fallen soldiers like Sarwar in the Pakistan Army, Express News reported.

@Jag Nathan: Yes I wonder the same about your troops dying everyday in Kashmir. Pack up and leave that failed cause.
Why does everyone take this "Rex Minor" seriously? He's an Afghan, so logic is not expected from his mind and thoughts. No wonder his native country is so, let's just say, "progressive"...
PS: Pass my comment ET.
Another wasted life fighting for a failed cause.
@357: Well said....
@Assad:
it is the commanders who ordered surrender and not the soldiers. I have no problem though if Pakistan support shooting in ones own feet. Read 'VOICE' commentry; the army is not meant to take over the function of the police, besides threre are no militants but several distinct ethnic Nations in Pakistan, who joined in the Union in the name of Islam but on hindsight realised their mistake. The Bengali Nation has separated and KPK and Baluchistan are next if Pakistan army continue with their carnage with areal bombing.

My blood boils, all these young good men die senselessly fighting stupid wars NOT of their own doing. The politicians should send their own sons to fight, let see how they feel then!
@gp65: Pakistan did not want to allow the return of dead soldiers, a purely humanitarian matter which by the way has been a fairly common and decent affair, to be turned into an opportunity for geo-political point scoring by the Indians. As such Pakistan's refusal to take the bodies back in these circumstances was perfectly understandable and had nothing to do with the silly comments made by Indians about Pakistan refusing to take back bodies because it was callous with regards to its fallen soldiers. Nothing of the sort happened.
@voice: No Pakistani would accept Indian hegemony over Kashmir and a refusal to accept Durrand line as the defacto border to be in the interest of Pakistan. This is where the security posture is taken up and defended which you mistakenly confuse with Pakistan's identity as a security state.
All those talking up peace need to take Pakistan's vulnerabilities into consideration. Yes we have some internal instability, eventually we will get beyond it, but Pakistan cannot sacrifice its stance on Kashmir and Durrand line for other countries as the price of peace. There has to be some give and take by all in the region.
@someone: 45,000 troops cornered by a force of 250,000 Indian troops with Air and Naval support was an eventuality we had to accept in 1971. We were outnumbered and without the requisite support to fight on. Continued hostilities would have resulted in further casualties to civilians, soldiers and their families.
The surrender in East Pakistan and accepting bodies of our fallen in Kargil are two very difference circumstances. Lets not compare apples to oranges.
@khushal: He wasn't killed by his own citizens but anti state cowards. Most of the terrorism you see in the border region is a left over from the Soviet - Afghan war and is supported by Pakistan's enemies through bases in Afghanistan. The Pakistani Army continues to pay the ultimate sacrifice in defeating these foreign funded criminals. The public supports the army fully which is why they have become more and more desperate in recent years.
Sir, we salute you for raising a son like that, and we salute your son for giving his life to make ours safe, as all other shuhada with him. They have earned their place (eternally) in Janat and history, but I pray that as a nation Allah enable us to deserve such sons.
Unfortunately Generals created monster in their own country, now poor soldiers and young officer are losing along civilians.... Hope they understand their limited thinking capacity.....and let political system to thrive.....Pakistan can no longer afford a security state becoming predator for its own people whether they are serving or civilian....everyone need a equal and peaceful Pakistan.
Thank you Pakistan army. We will always be under your debt. your dedication to the motherland is exceptional. You stand in the way of bullets when risk to your life is eminent. We salute you and pray for your wellbeing.
Salute Pakistan Army. Their sacrifices are priceless.
My grand-dad is a former Army engineer. He served in the Pakistan Army Corps of Engineers. He also commanded the Corps formerly when he became the Engineer-in-Chief. His name is Muhammed Abdul Razzaq.
and these Indians still in denial about the count of their solider's head knock down by Pakistan Army. They escaped for their lives leaving thousands of dead bodies behind of their mates.
@Gratgy:
How could they accept the dead from the territory Pakistan claims as theirs. Muslims do not cremate their deads but bury them within 24 hours time. You should also be aware that the Earth will grant tleast ten years to the relatives of the deceased to retrieve the body of the d loved one for burial in home town.
Rex Minor.
@Amin: Alright so there is an issue in accepting the bodies of those who fought bravely on those heights but no shame in surrendering in thousands in front of BBC.Skewed logic but then what else can we expect.
@Gratgy: Spare us the usual Indian ploy. We have come to terms with our martyrs at Kargil as we felt that was a sacrifice that was needed to be made. For us those we lost at Kargil are no different than the very many brothers in arms we lost at Siachen and in the previous wars. We are proud of these very brave men and our prayers are with them always.
Pakistan and its soldiers would never want to give India the chance to play politics over the return of our fallen soldiers. Your side wanted to return the bodies under the glare of media, that has never been done in the past and Pakistan surely was not going to allow the Indians the opportunity to exploit at Kargil. There is quite a bit of history behind the refusal to take back the bodies of some of the troops. Pakistan was not going to get played by India and proudly enough not a single family of the fallen troops asked the Government of Pakistan to ask for the return of their fallen loved ones. They died as martyrs and their families and the Pakistani nation know this well.
Pakistan comes first. Those of us who serve, know this well.
Captain Salman Sarwar was indeed a brave soldier but those who ordered him to fight his own people were definitely neither brave nor honourable. One can see the pain in the eyes of the father of this brave son who in the photo looks so young and so vibrant and full of life. May God bless him and give wisdom to the Prime Minister of the country to stop this war of terror!!!

@Deepak: No...we only have fun with detained spies.
@Gratgy: Ask not........
Salute to Captain Salman Sarwar and other military soldiers who gave their lives in the line of the duty for our beloved Pakistan. Protect us when we are asleep in our beds. May Allah raise his and all other soldiers Darjat in heavens Insha Allah.
Shaheed captain Salman Sarwar sacrificed his today for our tomorrows. Shaheed never dies. Shaheed Salman's bravery and dedication to his country reflect in his personality. The terrorist organizations have been attempting to destabilize the region, especially Pakistan, for over a decade. The brave nation of Pakistan has lost thousands of brave soldiers in fighting terrorism. We salute and commend the bravery of all those brave soldiers who gave their lives for the safety of the nation. We have always emphasized Pakistan’s importance in the region, and greatly appreciate their sacrifices in fighting terrorism. The terrorists have been unable to break our shared will and desire to succeed against terrorism, and we certainly hope to stay united in regards to our shared peace objectives in the region.

The soldiers never failed Pakistan but Pakistan failed its soldiers when it refused to accept their dead bodies during the Kargil war
