The supply of electricity to the apex court was disconnected on April 29 along with many other top institutions but was restored later in the day on the orders of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Memon also said that Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali disconnected the electricity supply to the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) even though the Sindh High Court (SHC) had said otherwise.
The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) had disconnected the supply to Wasa after the federal water and power minister had asked for the recovery of Rs28 billion arrears from the provincial and federal governments. The managing director Saleemuddin had filed a contempt petition and won a stay order from the SHC.
Memon further alleged that Ali did not even respect the court's decision.

Sindh owes 56billion rupees electric bill. First get ur own house in order before pointing fingers at others. By the way Supreme Court had paid its bill and that's why the power was restored.
At least Abid Sher Ali is doing something
Sharjeel Sb supply was restored because bill was paid.
position should not matter.
all defaulters should be punished
How much against I am for noora but this man is doing a fine job!
The solution lies in moving these Babus to compact energy efficient Homes/Offices. The 'ruling elite' of this debt ridden rudderless ship needs to live according to the ground realities. Living like the colonial occupiers with Mughal grandeur, is simply sickening. All colonial occupier's buildings, like the governor's houses should be converted into Public Utility places like Schools,Colleges, Universities, Hospitals etc.,
Dearest All It is very shameful that the people who is paying the bill is effected and have to pay higher bill than their own electric usage. This is not fair and honest people who is paying the bill on time and regularly must not be effected with Load Shedding. MGA
Mr Sharjeel instead of paying bills and allowing this culture to pay bills and get electricity so future generation will not suffer with the criticizing those who are trying something to do better which you and your party failed miserably in full 5 year term you enjoyed in power. Instead of making and celebrating Sind cultural festivals why don't you promote this culture as well.
We fully support Minister of power Abid sher's decision to cut down electricity who a re defaulters and do not pay bills. This is a bad culture and we need to stop it otherwise country will remain around vicious circles of circular debt and will remain in darkness for even generations to come. If we want to bring betterment then we all have to support good decision of current government as n o country will have magical wand to correct things in one year or two year But at least this is a right move in right direction so Salute you guys for taking hard steps and actions against big fish of this country.
the only solution to stop power theft is to make the system like mobile pre-paid model ..a system that permit electric flow only if account holder has positive balance..
Should have happened a long time ago! probably PPP's govt time.....I dont understand the complaint! The issue is non payment while the esteemed minister is diverting conveniently to why someone else was not penalized.....Typical of PPP's last government's modus operandi.....
I guess they still haven't learnt....This does not reflect well for PPP's political future! If i were a PPP supporter, i should be damn worried!
@Nida Alvi: Must be an after-party haze.
Electricity was restored to SC because they paid the bill immediately. http://www.dawn.com/news/1103204/govt-punishes-itself-for-not-paying-power-bills
Fully behind this move... have to start from somewhere so people who are saying why did you not disconnect from this other place and why only here... if he had done that then you would be saying then why not that other place. Haters will always hate.
It is saddening to see how these mindless, shameless and ruthless people defend not paying bills and finding one or the other excuse for not paying. I know a Sindh government medical centre which does not electricity for last one year but the relevant minister travels with four escort vehicles protecting him. His one day transport cost is twice the monthly electricity bill. This is democracy outraging revenge. Democracy is the best revenge.
The property dealer (Marvi Property Network), being himself a defaulter does not know what he is talking about!
Because SC was an allies of PML(N) in election. Simple answer which Memon fail to realize.
surprised...supreme court defaulter
first pay bills
A shameful culture of not paying ones Bills +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sad cpmmentary on the country.
