
The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) more than made up for depriving its fans of home action as Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders fought it out to the last in Abu Dhabi, with the tied match progressing to a tied Super Over and eventually to a boundary count that awarded a win to the former team.
Gautam Gambhir showed return to form with 45 off 44 deliveries but was dismissed by Rajat Bhati before he could add more. However, Shakibal Hasan’s valiant 29 helped Kolkata level with their opponents at 152 for a loss of eight wickets and forced the match into a Super Over.
The team managed to set a target of 12 runs in the deciding over which Rajasthan accomplished on the last ball, courtesy Steven’s Smith calm drive to the extra cover.
With both teams levelled in full time as well as Super Over, Rajasthan’s superior boundary count enabled the team to win the thrilling encounter.
