The district BDU chief was injured late Monday night while trying to defuse a bomb planted outside a police check post in the city.


City police official Amir Rukhsar Khan said around 11:30pm, a police official spotted a bomb planted by unidentified militants outside the Miryan Gate check post. He then informed BDU In charge Wasal Khan.


The official added Wasal rushed to the spot and while he was busy defusing the bomb, the device was detonated remotely, injuring him severely.


Wasal sustained shrapnel injuries and was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital where he was said to be in a stable condition.
