
The court also issued a no-objection certificate for jail authorities to hand over the custody of the suspect, Shafiqur Rehman. Sohail Ahmed Mashori, a judicial magistrate in district West, transferred the cases and issued the NOC on an application from NAB’s prosecutor who had filed the application on behalf of the bureau’s chairperson seeking transfer of cases from the trial court to NAB.
A number of people were reportedly conned by some religious scholars, including Rehman, his brother and several others where they had promised large profits. Rehman and others would ask people to deposit money and give an assurance of a higher return.
