Roznama Express correspondent Zia Tanoli reported on Monday that Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has disconnected gas supply to the Prime Minister House Islamabad, Parliament lodges, Convention Centre and Federal Shariat Court among other government offices.
According to the SNGPL spokesperson, Parliament House has dues worth Rs1.3 million, Parliament Lodges Rs770,000, Federal Shariat Court Rs224,000, Governor House Rs8.8 million, and Convention Centre Rs9.1 million.
All the defaulters had been sent notices several times but no response was received, the spokesperson said.
Interestingly, PM Nawaz had chaired a high-level meeting on April 23 regarding the overall electricity and gas distribution system where he had ordered strict action to be taken against electricity pilferers and bill defaulters.
He had directed the authorities to not even spare government installations and offices.

This action should be commended. But the question is: having a budget of billions of rupees they still do not want to pay bills ? does it not show the mind set of being powerful ?
@Indian Muslim: Pakistani poor people's tax money will be paid to the concerned SNGPL's department for gas connection's restoration of PM House,Parliament and Parliament Lodges Islamabad and Pakistani people are made for fulfilling the leaders' luxurious and kingly life's styles' expenditures......
PM should sell couple of F16's and pay the electricity bill. Unbelievable wow
Were any military buildings disconnected?
the PM step must be appreciated.
@H.B.Khan: "The action is correct.Any one who does not pay the bill, their utilities should be disconnected" . Unless the unpaid bills are cleared, payee's name should be on the ECL.
It’s all Topi drama to stay in the news …as most of the actors do to just stay in the news. So that people know how much our PM is sincere about transparency in Govt depts. No one can dare cut gas or electricity to all these official offices otherwise that poor guy will lose his job. By the way When are they going to disconnect the gas supply of Ittefaq factories, which are defaulter of millions? PML-N should first pay the bills and taxes before asking others. We the common people have to pay for these thieves sitting in parliament house.
@Singh:
Who is the PM.., Nawaz Sharif....so the ppl have the full right to criticise,,,this is called JAMHORIAT.....
Where is Abid sher Ali when you need him. There must be a completely reasonable explanation for all this.
Baloch and Sindhi gas is free ride... waiting for Iranian gas , then government understand how valuable it is.
Shame on all those who are still arguing it wasn't PM's job to clear the bills and blah blah blah
This is only for drama because the corrupt top cheap pesco still on the job after stealing electricity.
@PakPower: Who needs Gas these days. A well played out Drama for the illiterate Masses.People are committing suicide for not making both ends meet & here you are all praise of his Majesty.
After reading comments I wonder understanding of reader about goverment functioning. PM house is not NS personal residence and any PM does not look after maintenance of PM house. It is responsibility of PM house manager/bureaucrat. Please use some common sense. ET ???????????.
@Raghu:
Oh yes, the PM is suppose to get a utility bill just like an average citizen, walk to a bank, stand in the queue and pay his bill! Give me a break will you.
Its a drama, the PM house gas disconnection is a publicity stunt and new gimmick. Had this happened at the Raiwind palace things would have been different.
@Adnan Siddiqi: PM should have cleared all his dues before taking this step. Practicing by oneself comes before Preaching.
PM didnot realise that his decision on defaulters will back fire. Wait and watch until all his Noon family come up to complain the PM about the disconnection and request for the wavier of these defaults from our hard earned money in the form of tax.
It's all Topi drama to stay in the news ...as most of the actors do to just stay in the news. So that people know how much our PM is sincere about transpency in govt depts. No one can dare cut gas or electricity to all these offical offices otherwise that poor guy will lose his job..
how nihari and pae will be cooked in PM house today ? :D
I think this PM house is much easier option to cut the supplies than recovering bill from sindh and some parts of karachi. so obviously they have chosen the easier way for a political stunt
Only Symbolic disconnection. Later say sorry Sir, next wn't happen.
This can only happen in Pakistan.
one of the best news i have heard in a while!
If PM house can be disconnected then anyones house can!
Keep it up!!
What is preached is also practised - way to go Mian Sahab.
When the gold rusts what will iron do? Kudos to SNGPL!!
When are they going to disconnect the gas supply of Ittefaq factories, which are defaulter of millions? PML-N should first pay the bills and taxes before asking others. We the common people have to pay for these thieves sitting in parliament house.
nice way of our government's indirect marketing.. lolz
The action is correct.Any one who does not pay the bill, their utilities should be disconnected
Way to go SNGPL!
According to the SNGPL spokesperson, Parliament House has dues worth Rs1.3 million, Parliament Lodges Rs770,000, Federal Shariat Court Rs224,000 and Governor House Rs8.8 million.
That explain it all. Get ready for more Taxes. We are feeding these corrupts from our hard earned money.
Poetic justice! But the MD of SNGPL should prepare to go abroad anytime soon.
very good, Proud on this decision.Law should be same for all even if they are honourable parliamentarians of Prime minister of this country.
Takeaway it is then?! Unfortunatley, the PM House is going to default on that as well.
.....and the story goes that just one of his wrist watches is worth way, way, way more than this. Does one laugh or cry ?
Excellent, much the best and august action taken by SSGC.
I hope I am reading it right. Bravo.
Charity begins @ Home :)
I'm sure Tribune can do better than this.
Prime minister of Pakistan will pay his dues? and on top of it Gas supply was disconnected without any confrontation and threats.
Most people are aware about the ground reality, please don't deceive the nation by projecting PM as a noble person.
The concerned Principal Accounting Officers should be sacked. Media should not try to blame Prime Minister for petty matters. Its not his job to clear gas bills.
Is this for real? I know for sure today is NOT April Fools day.
Hope it stays disconnected!
This is Hilarious! :D
This is the right Democratic system, where everyone is treated equally. PM house disconnection is a notion that how our system is getting stronger day by day. M Nawaz sharif You have shown your true leadership, and we Pakistanis are with you till you are on right Path and we believe you will keep this Path that leads to Real success and glory. Ameen.
