Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav launched yet another scathing attack on BJP’s prime ministerial frontrunner Narendra Modi, describing him as a ‘frustrated man and a liar’.
He also heaped criticism on the Congress and the BSP, while addressing a rally in Muslim dominated Babupurwa Idgah locality on Saturday evening, according to a Times of India report.
Urging Muslims to vote for party candidate Surendra Mohan Agarwal to enable him to play a vital role at the centre, he said, “Modi makes tall claims of Gujarat development but the reality is quite different. 45 per cent of women are malnourished. 8,000 villages face water crisis and 44,000 children are missing. Around 700,000 farmers have committed suicide.”
In comparison, only four farmer deaths have been reported from Uttar Pradesh, he said.
“In 2001, Modi announced the metro train project. But nothing has been done so far. In Lucknow, the work on the project has already started,” he said. He announced that the SP government at the centre would enhance tax exemption on income up to INR250,000 and extend retirement age to 65 years. In a bid to woo the Muslims, he said that education up to degree level would be free for all.
Reminding the Muslims that nation’s missile programme was initiated by Abdul Kalam, he said, “Manmohan Singh asked Sachar panel to prepare a report for the betterment of Muslim community but never implemented it.”
Recommending talks as the solution for Naxalite problem, he claimed that post elections Third Front would emerge as a viable option to form the government. “Efforts would be made to form anti-Congress and anti-BJP government at the centre,” he declared.
Rubbishing the Planning Commission’s assertion that a person earning INR28 per day in the rural pocket and INR33 in the urban area was not below the poverty line, Yadav said that whosoever prepared the report cheated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Claiming that he was charged INR475 when he went out to have food, he said, “Poor people are under stress due to inflation. They do not have enough money to feed themselves.”

Things are looking much less certain for Modi and the BJP in these later stages of the elections. It seems that they are desperate to bring out their core voters, and have become less interested in winning Muslim votes or secular votes. This could explain why there is so much hate speech flying around at the moment.

" First, ambassadors of various countries, that do matter in the world, latest from US, have made a beeline to his office in Gujarat to be on the right side of the future PM of India, giving a lie to first part of your comment. Second, are you implying that if he does get elected, evidently by a majority of Indians, that majority is not sane?

As far as us Pakistanis are concerned, we don't really care who becomes the PM. If Modi becomes a PM, then India will have considerable problems, he's not respected in other countries, not even in his own country, among the minority & sane Hindus. In Pakistan, extremist political parties have no say at all, whereas Modi is in the mix of mainstream politics! Good luck with your extremist candidate for PM :)
