The agenda of the meeting was security issues. The Chief Minister briefed General Kayani of the measures the provincial government has taken to curb terrorism in the province.
On Monday, at least six people were killed in a bomb blast outside the shrine of Baba Farid Ganj Shakar in Pakpattan.
Soon after that, the Punjab home department and police recommended keeping all shrines in the province be closed between sunset and sunrise to avert terrorist attacks because of its inability to make foolproof security arrangements.
The Chief Minister regularly meets the joint Chief of Army Staff to discuss the security situation of Punjab.
