Violated: Four accused of gang rape sent on remand

A judicial magistrate handed over four people accused of raping a woman to the police for a two-day physical remand on Sunday.


The Shinkiari police had arrested the accused identified as Nadir, Sajjid, Amjad and Ehsanullah on Saturday when a woman from Baidadi village lodged a complaint against them.

According to police, Shaheena* told them she was on her way to Shinkiari from Mansehra in a pickup when the accused kidnapped her and forcibly took her to a house in Dara Maira village, where they all raped her.

The police registered a case against the accused under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested them. According to investigation officer Sub-Inspector Fazalur Rehman, the accused were produced before the court of the judicial magistrate who approved their physical remand for two days. He added the police had not received the forensic report yet, however, circumstantial evidence confirmed the woman’s complaint.
