The Islamabad Police on Saturday claimed to have recovered a car that was in the use of a police official but stolen in March.


According to the police, a team of anti-car lifting cell stopped a Honda VTI (AGR-847 Sindh) for checking at a police picket near Golra toll plaza.

The car’s driver tried to speed away but was intercepted by the police team. The police also arrested other suspects, who were identified as Farooq Ali Shah, Liaqat Ali Shah, both residents of Swabi, and Danish Iqbal, a resident of Battagaram.

The police said they found jammers and a fake police card from them and the car was actually stolen from Karachi Company in March.

It was being used by SP CID at that time and his driver had gone to the market with the car.

During preliminary investigation, the nabbed suspects confessed their involvement in other car theft incidents. They confessed to take away stolen cars to Mardan and sell them to other areas after changing their chassis numbers. Further investigation is under way, a police official.
