PTCL's joint venture with Dailymotion aims to offer an improved viewing experience to its customers and as well as providing "a wide range of entertainment content and multi-screen viewing options", stated a press release on Saturday.
The video sharing website is also willing to block objectionable content in Pakistan – a request YouTube has so far declined resulting in the continuing ban. YouTube was blocked by the Pakistan government on September 17, 2012 following the upload of a video clip that sparked countrywide protests.
“Our endeavour is to adhere to the eastern norms and culture of Pakistan by providing a family friendly portal. Moving forward, Dailymotion would also make the objectionable content blocked for Pakistan,” said VP Distribution and Business Development Dailymotion Vincent Martin.
“We see Pakistan as a country with huge potential and this joint venture will result in an increase in the online video viewing on Dailymotion and hence advertisement,” Martin added.
According to PTCL CEO Walid Irshaid, this move will open up new opportunities and better monetisation for the country's content industry.
PTCL also hosted meetings of Dailymotion with Pakistani TV channels to create awareness about this development.
The meetings were attended by the PTCL management, the head of economic affairs of French Embassy in Pakistan and Pakistan’s content industry leaders.

I was searching for "Tariq Jameel Sahab" videos with my father and i dont know how to say i got some freaking nasty Search Results of adult porns, it was really shameful.
Believe it or not every third video on Dialymotion is pron.
I am not big fan of Youtube but they won't give you that kind of results when i was searching for Islamic Videos. Pakistan should make its own Video Site.
Why everybody is talking about porn? i think this is the only thing which is in the minds. Youtube was blocked not because of showing porn content rather it was the matter of respecting religion.
What a stupid thing to do ... Dailymotion is more porn friendly than Youtube !!!!
@sharjeel: "Great, at least someone respects Pakistani will."
I did not know that Pakistan was a single person. Who's deciding on my behalf?
Daily Motion is also notorious. Dailymotion has even crossed YOUTUBE by showing totally private videos including porn. Dailymotion should also be banned along with Youtube. There should be a Pakistani site of videos which ought to be promoted.
but daily motion too have such content.
Excellent Move PTA. Someone should stand up to the media megaloths...if they cant respect a country's cultural sensitivites youtube needs a shut up call. I dont care for freedom of press that causes 100's of deaths and protests and stoppage of business
Who believes and says that Youtube is inaccessible in Pakistan and whoever thinks that Youtube is inaccessible in Pakistan only lives in fools' paradise because not only Youtube but every blocked website by PTA is easily accessible in Pakistan by the decoding softwares on internet freely downloadable. And this PTCL's joning hands with daily motion is excellent step towards video sharing technology......
Who wants to go second class when you can fly first for free? YouTube is great for many reasons and one of those reasons is that it doesn't Kowtow to any particular govt or religion.
Dailymotion contains more nudity and explicit material than YouTube. How Dailymotion would be able to block porn like stuff.
So this was all about a deal PTCL and dailymotion to ban YouTube. what shame !
youtube was banned due to violating the religious law in pakistan and then it became political issue now it turns to be a business issue. Gen Musharaf was right. pakistan ka Allah he hafiz.
youtube #KHOLOBC, dailymotion looks like youtube of 1990s :/
Well folks, settle down. Our legally appointed government feels that it has the right to micro manage our lives and it strongly feels that we only deserve the second best in everything.
Eww dailymotion eww. How dare they compare it with youtube? Or even try and offer it is an alternative to it?
Really? objectionable content? our country has come up as one of the highest viewers of Porn, specifically animal porn? Sharjeel you fail to realize we have a highly frustrated society so dont talk about the will of Pakistani people. what a joke!!
dailymotion is the worst ever video sharing site...a very bad decision...even Vimeo would have been better..
No Islamic or Arab country banned Youtube, but in Pakistan they made it an issue. We should have just ignored it and not given that much importance. So why cant they block other adult content which is easy available even without a proxy. These westerners know how to provoke the sentiments of we Muslims by uploadeding such content.
Dailymotion is nowhere close 2 youtube in terms of infotainment content available there.. bad move !
@Afeef: Youtube has been unblocked for a while now. Just access it via the SSL secured URL i.e. https
A generation born in cage, cant understand the meaning of freedom !!
Dailymotion is a pathetic video sharing site. it doesn't reach the standard of YouTube.
I am pretty sure Dailymotion too will banned in Pakistan in near future. RIP media and truthful reporting in Oakistan.
PROXY SERVER ZINDABAD....!!!!!!!
Kudos for actually partnering up with a website which has adult content and still we keep on censoring every website which has explicit content. Youtube has been banned for so long that no one actually cares now so do what ever you guys want to do to roll us back to 1990's !
Goodbye Mallu videos. </3
Great, at least someone respects Pakistani will.
"Objectionable content" who decides?.
