Nawaz Sharif was visiting Gwadar to assess the development projects in the region and had been welcomed by COAS Raheel Sharif.
Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also accompanied him during his visit.
Nawaz said Rs162 billion will be allocated for development projects in the province.
The premier told the media that the construction of a state-of-the-art airport will be implemented along with development of the port, which the government envisions as a ‘Free Port’ along the lines of Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong ports.
International consultants will be hired for the planning and development of the free port, said the prime minister, adding that it will be developed along the lines of the ones in Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Speaking about the law and order and security situation in Balochistan, the premier stated that immediate action will be taken by COAS General Raheel Sharif, and new security measures will be introduced.
Furthermore, the PM also said special security measures will be implemented for Chinese personnel working in Balochistan to safeguard the Pak-China economic corridor.
He also praised and gave special thanks to Balochistan’s chief minister on the basis of his work in implementing good policies and curtailing nepotism and bribery.
The prime minister also lauded the role of the FC, the military and federal institutions for the improvement in the law and order situation of the region.
Background
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on April 18 had stressed that the Gwadar port extension project should be given priority in order to boost economic activity in the country, Radio Pakistan reported.
Along with these development projects, he had also emphasised the need to improve health and education services in the province. The socio-economic package includes provision for training of human resource in different sectors.
Establishing peace in Balochistan is a priority of the government, he said, noting that security concerns can impede economic activity and socio-economic development.

A rose by any other name....
the main purpose of his visit was to show to th world that shareefs are on the same page
@ Jibran Spoken like a true PMLN hater, had he not visited Baluchistan and Sindh regularly and remained in Punjab, people like you would have commented that he is only PM of punjab. Typical biased mindset, rather than appreciating the fact that PM is in fact giving importance to Baluchistan and its people and overall economy of country and is moving forward by taking Gen Raheel Shareef alongside him, people are busy posting negative comments. And then we wonder why Pakistan is not progressing.
Nawaz said Rs162 billion will be allocated for development projects in the province. And Rs 44 Billion for 23 Km long road project in rwp/Isd. :D
started by Musharraf, Nawaz takes credit
"The prime minister also praised and gave special thanks to Balochistan’s chief minister on the basis of his work in implementing good policies and curtailing nepotism and bribery."
Hahahah! nepotism and bribery! good joke!
As long as it is metal from his foundry and mill he will continue to build these mega projects.
The COAS shouldn't be walking alongside the PM. He should technical be behind all the ministers.
What a ingenious plan to meet and speak with the COAS. This way our prime minister did not have to wait for an appointment or his turn. And another plus point , the meeting in "neutral" zone ( and not the lions den ) ....
Is this the job of no lesser than a prime minister to travel all across the country to see the progress? Or is this a public display by a person of below average IQ needing gimmicks to feel important.
Not president but prime minister Nawaz Sharif
President Nawaz Sharif???? REALLY ET? He is the PRIME MINISTER. And yes, I am yelling.
Like concern about gawadar, the PM must concern about the due status of the Baluchistan and its people. Nothing can be achieved through suppression, exploitation and using of force (abducting, torturing, killings) against the innocent and weak people who rises their voice for their due rights and status. The growth and development of Pakistan is only possible by giving all the people and provinces their due statues, system of justice and equality. From last 65 years of history now it must be understood that honest leadership based on justice, equability and respect for all can strengthen the democracy. And the use of force, propaganda, divide and rule, occupation and suppression of voice doesn't work any more. This is the era of socio-economic development and the era of occupation and suppression has over. All the provinces and the Nation, each and every individual most be respected, due respect and justice on time must be provided and democracy most be to serve the Nation, not for power and race. All the institution must obey the country constitution and law and no one is exempted. Good and durable relationships with the neighboring countries must be consider and all the failed strategies of suppression, instability and occupation must be vanished. Be live like a civilized and mature country with civilized institutions at least at 65 years of their establishment.
