QUETTA: Three people, including two relatives, were shot dead and a passerby was injured in an attack on an SUV near Munir Mengal Chowk on Sariab Road. At least four assailants on two motorcycles opened fire on a Land Cruiser jeep near the intersection. “Two persons in the SUV and a cobbler on the roadside sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot, while a passerby was wounded,” SSP Sariab Muhammad Jaffar told The Express Tribune. The attackers escaped unchallenged. The deceased were identified as Mira Jan Achakzai and Ahmed Jan, both relatives, and cobbler Khuhsal Khan. “The assailants used an SMG which is uncommon in organised targeted killings,” SSP Jaffar said. “This could be a case of tribal dispute or old enmity,” he said, adding that investigations were under way. The slain men were local businessmen and owned shops.
