Kamal, who is best known for his mayorship of Karachi 2005-9 during which time the megalopolis saw a flurry of developmental activity, had resigned from his seat in November 2013, but it has taken him almost six months to submit a formal resignation.
The former Karachi mayor had cited ‘personal obligations’ as the reason for his resignation.
The MQM, the party on whose ticket Kamal had been elected to the Senate, had in November denied that he had resigned.

Will he still claim the salary and perks for his absence from senate. Yes this is our political norm. Dr. Ishratul Ibad has done it several times. This is democracy, what I do is right but if you do the same you are wrong.
@Parvez: He took the ownership and did his best...what have you done besides commenting?
I wonder how our politicians once out of office manage to live abroad........but while in office they loudly claim ' ....our problem is that no one takes ownership....? '
We hope he will come back soon......... Mr. Mustafa Kamal people of karachi miss you......

Karachi really needs him back as mayor. Hopefully after his personal obligations have been fulfilled he can run for office once again
