While condemning the attack on Hamid Mir, a spokesman for the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday said raising undue allegations against the ISI was uncalled for.
“We condemn the attack on Hamid Mir and pray for his well-being and recovery. However, raising allegations against the ISI or the head of ISI is without any basis and is highly regrettable and misleading,” he said.
An independent inquiry must immediately be carried out to ascertain facts, he said.

Amusing that there is an agency like the ISPR that can issue press releases of the army independent of the defense ministry - this would be unheard of elsewhere. The defense ministry is the public face of the army to protect the army from accusations of this nature - also the army's complete subordination to the executive ensures its hallowed postion in society.
In the past 10 years, ever since the media was freed, how many successful overseas Pakistanis, who have built companies worth hundreds of millions have ever been interviewed? Individuals who with their hard work, and dedication have built enterprises find no time allocated to them on the national media. People who can actually take this country out of its debt, energy crises, can build the next smartphone and cars. Never. The media is trying to become the czar of morality and walking into territories where they are not supposed to tread anyways. Unfortunately, the media has become another source of instability in the country
