Easter treat: Rs3.97m distributed among Christians

FAISALABAD: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal and Punjab Assembly member Azad Ali Tabassum on Saturday distributed Rs3.97 million among 794 deserving Christians.

Cheques of Rs5,000 each were presented to widows, orphans, the disabled and ailing persons. The DCO also greeted the Christian community Easter. He said Christians had been playing a key role for the development and progress of Pakistan.

He said the district administration had been working for the welfare of Christians. He said Pinto Christian Hall would be constructed at a cost of Rs80 million.

He said funds had also been allocated for the development of a Christian town.

He said problems of Christians would be resolved on priority.

The DCO also announced Monday the holiday for Christian employees of the district government. Tabassum said the government had always been taking care of minorities. He thanked Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for providing financial assistance for the needy Christians.
