Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak has said the government has divided the next provincial budget into three parts: development, welfare and administration.

Talking to people after hearing public grievances and answering questions at the CM Secretariat, Khattak said instead of increasing taxes from the poor, their government will cut their expenses. The next provincial budget will be tax-free, and surplus and welfare-oriented in which hefty funds will be allocated for education, health, development and public welfare, claimed the CM.

According to an official handout, Khattak said the Ehtesab Commission will be made operational within a few weeks and all corruption cases with the relevant proof will be submitted to it. Khattak assured people that the “dirty fish” involved in corruption would be made accountable.

Big net, small fish?

The chief minister claimed the commission would be made independent and powerful enough to be able to punish senior officials of the province, including the CM himself.

Regarding the delay in development projects, he thanked people for exhibiting patience and said they will soon reap the benefit. Development schemes were starting late but their rate would pick up now after the hiring of consultants, stated Khattak. The projects will be completed in a corruption-free, standardised and transparent manner, he claimed.

According to Khattak, infrastructure being established by the government will be exemplary.

With regards to the CM’s Complaints Cell, he said the cell’s officials should not be pressured by anyone while undertaking their duties.
