Did you know?: Friends is over, confirm show’s producers
Dispelling rumours, Marta Kauffman and David Crane said that there is no chance of the original cast reuniting.
Sob, sob, sob. Although many of us unswervingly held on to the possibility of a reunion or spin-off of Friends, the sitcom’s producers have dashed down our hopes.
Dispelling the rumours for good, Marta Kauffman and David Crane said that there is no chance of the original cast reuniting or new characters coming together for the television series, according to the Hindustan Times. “From the beginning, we never, ever wanted to do a spinoff or Grown-Up Friends or Friends Kids or Baby Friends,” said Kauffman.
“We always knew and felt very strongly that not only would it never happen, but also that we never wanted to be part of it because it so rarely works. We just felt like this show is about a certain time in your life, and once you’re past that, the show is over,” she added.
When asked about a possible 20th anniversary reunion of the show this year, she responded, “Let’s be honest, it’s 20 years later. Nobody looks like how they did then. And you’re going to spend the whole time going, ‘Wow, he/she has aged’,” reported metro.co.uk.
The six stars of the show, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow have long been loved for their distinct characters.
The show may not be coming back to life, but our Friends frenzy will live on.
