PTI Peshawar General Secretary and the campaign focal person Younas Zaheer told The Express Tribune after the provincial government’s achievements in the Sehat ka Insaf campaign, they have decided to introduce the cleanliness campaign in the district along the same lines.
He said the campaign will formally be initiated on May 1.
Zaheer said campaigners would create awareness among citizens on proper garbage disposal and the needs to ensure clean streets.
“We will distribute pamphlets which will inform people on how to use various cleanliness tools and manage household dustbins,” Zaheer informed.
He said at least 12,000 party workers will take part in the campaign, adding the concerned stakeholders will be taken on board for the campaign.
The general secretary said, “In the campaign’s first phase we will target various union councils of Peshawar interior like Gulbahar, Bilal Town, Yakatoot, and the GT Road area,” adding they will soon extend the campaign to the other areas.
Zaheer said he met Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Thursday to inform him about the campaign and hoped Safai ka Insaf would make the provincial capital better looking and its denizens more cleanliness-conscious.
He said he has been working on the campaign since the last month and is waiting for a green signal from Khattak and Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Inayatullah Khan.
One man’s dream?
However, when asked, Inayatullah expressed ignorance about the idea and said no one has consulted him about a cleanliness campaign so far.
The minister said when he took oath as a cabinet member, he promised a clean and green province and still stands by his words.
He said, “We will provide a healthy and pleasant environment for residents of the province.”
An official of the local government told The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity that the government would not be able provide funds for Safai ka Insaf in the ongoing financial year as all development budgets have been allocated under the annual development programme.

Another milestone..Imran Khan tum Zindabad..:)
The only political party that at least has the will and intent to do something for the people. Much respect. Hope you ppl continue to improve and we see PTI at Federal level very soon.
Great initiative. Indian leaders should learn something from it.
I love about such great ingenious idea that will help to community participation in town. Good for people living Peshawar . .. . More community involve more town will clean. Such wonderful idea I hav never seen in South Asia
wow....welldone pti
Jazakallah for the initiative.........Few things would be required to make this initiative longer lasting otherwise it will be just a futile exercise.
Most of the dirt creating element in Peshawar is Dust (in the air and on the ground). The dust is mostly because of broken/unpaved roads and unpaved walking routes inside peshawar and in it's suburbs. Unless the transportation routes are paved the element of dirt will always be in the city due to very heavy traffic. Redirect transiting traffic around city to reduce the traffic flow through city limited roads which will help reduce noise / dirt and emissions in city. It is needed to isolate residential areas from public by limiting in/out access to the transit traffic which will help better life for the residents and better able to manage the conditions/affair of the neighborhood/community. City needs a garbage disposal service (it used to exist in 80's and early 90's - when city was at it's best and most livable/beautiful place). Private companies should be encouraged to invest in such services which should be regulated by govt. and paid by residents... And of course education on what cleanliness means and ethics of using public places.hahahaha only thing u can do well.
Sehat Ka insaf was financed by UNICEF and WHO and every PTI worker and leader Received their share. If Safai Ka insaf is finance by Govt or an another organisation than PTI leader and worker may participate in it otherwise it will fail
another great initiative by PTI in kpk
Hope they will u se proper funds to make it a success as it is very important for general person well being to breath and clean environment. PTI workers just try your best i hope this will get the huge success and other provinces will learn from your suich great initiative instead of celebrating Sindh festivals and Youth festivals.
In civilized societies especially in infidel societies cleanliness is a habit. In our hypocrite society it's cleanliness campaign. We know no shame for sure.
Thumbs Up! I hope every citizen of Peshawar takes part in this drive for the sake of the city!
Excellent idea. It should be encouraged.
