Service Quality: Healthcare commission opposed
They said they would not be registered with the commission.
FAISALABAD:
Several doctors’ organisations voiced their concern regarding the healthcare commission at a meeting of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) on Friday. They said they would not be registered with the commission. PMA’s Faisalabad chapter president Yusuf Shah said the commission had not taken stakeholders on board while making it rules. “We have several apprehensions about these rules.” PMA senior vice president Rai Arif said the commission had not made any rules against quacks. Private Hospitals Association general secretary Abdul Hafeez Kardar said the commission had no chief organiser. He said all members of the commission’s executive body should be appointed immediately. PMA’s Punjab organisation vice president Dr Tufail said doctors would not apply for licences under commission’s rules. Pakistan Islamic Medical Association president Khalid Fakhar, Young Doctors’ Association president Dr Maruf and Rural Doctors’ Association president Afzal Cheema also attended the meeting.
