The Islamabad High Court has directed the civic authorities to submit a detailed report on the status and removal of illegal katchi abadis by April 23.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC Wednesday issued the order on the request of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal seeking one week’s time to submit a comprehensive report on the removal of illegal slums.
The court also asked secretary interior to supervise the operation against illegal slums.
On Wednesday, when the court took up the matter, CDA chairman said that the report will be submitted to the court after completion of the ongoing operations against illegal slums.
Besides CDA chairman, interior secretary Shahid Khan and Islamabad’s Chief Commissioner Jawad Paul also appeared before the court. They were summoned by the court during the last hearing of the case.
Afzal informed the court that the civic agency has already demolished over 2,000 illegal structures from greenbelts in H-10 and I-10.
He said CDA has also decided to remove Afghan Basti.
