Averting disaster: ‘No water shortage in Cholistan’

Four water supply schemes operational, providing uninterrupted water supply, says Cholistan Development Authority MD.

LAHORE: “Residents of Cholistan have adequate access to safe drinking water and there is no water shortage,” said Cholistan Development Authority Managing Director Iqbal Hussain in his report submitted to the chief minister on Tuesday. He said four water supply schemes were operational and providing uninterrupted water supply for human and livestock consumption. He said free medical camps were held by the Cholistan Development Authority at Kala Pahar and Kheersir. “Veterinary health camps are held at Chapu and specialist doctors from Bahawal Victoria Hospital have promised to provide health services there,” he said. He said the Livestock Department would vaccinate the livestock. “Ten mobile veterinary dispensaries attended and provided treatment to 5,116 animals,” he added. He said the Cholistan Desert Rural Health Centre had treated 364 patients.
