Making history: ANP elects first woman vice president

PARACHINAR:


Nargis Tori from Kurram Agency made history on Sunday after winning the position of vice president of the Awami National Party (ANP) in elections held in Parachinar city.


Tori is the first woman to hold this office.

With a 55% turnout, ANP officials from across the agency gathered to cast their vote.

Mujahid Tori was elected president of the city’s cabinet, while Gulzar Husain was chosen as general secretary.

Nargis bagged the most votes becoming a prominent figure within the cabinet.

Hussain Akbar was elected deputy general secretary, Taswir Ali as cultural secretary and Imran Ali as secretary finance.

While addressing the ceremony held in their honour on Monday, the new officers vowed they will continue the mission of Bacha Khan and strive to solve their constituency’s problems.
