The University of Swat’s Department of Media and Communication Studies secured the first prize in a news writing competition at a youth carnival held at the Institute of Space Technology (IST).
At the event, around 500 students from 40 different universities across the country contested in categories such as electronic games, filmmaking and photography, besides news writing. Haroon Siraj, a media studies student from the University of Swat, won the first position in report writing.
Waseem, a student of the computer and software technology department of the same varsity, came second in e-games. Moreover, singing, painting, video production and theatre were also part of the carnival.
Renowned television artist Farooq Qaisar (Uncle Sargam) was the chief guest and conferred prizes among winning students. University of Swat Vice Chancellor Professor Jahanzeb Khan congratulated winners and hoped they would continue to earn laurels for their varsity.
