LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Saturday that PTI had played its role for holding transparent local body polls in the Punjab province.

“PTI wants to see local bodies’ elections held at the earliest,” Qureshi said.

He was talking to media after PTI organisational meeting in which two point agenda of local bodies’ elections and the founding day of the party were discussed.

Qureshi said the party believes in devolution of power to the grassroots level so that people could feel the sense of democracy.

He said the Election Commission of Pakistan should make a proper base for delimitations so that level playing field could be ensured for all stakeholders.

The party had directed all its office bearers to fully participate in the workers convention being held on April, 25 in Islamabad, he added. Mian Mehmmodur Rasheed and Jehangir Tareen were also present on the occasion.
