Baby Musa Khan appeared in court in Lahore, sitting on his grandfather's lap and drinking from a bottle of milk.
He and his adult relatives were charged this month with attempting to murder a policeman after his family clashed with police and gas company workers trying to collect overdue bills. Police registered a case against the whole family.
"Police told the court that the nomination of Musa in the case of attacking police and gas company officials was a human error and Musa is not required," defense lawyer Irfan Sadiq told Reuters.
The baby's grandfather, Muhammad Yasin, and his three sons still face the charges. Pictures taken at an earlier court hearing of Musa crying as he was being fingerprinted provoked widespread ridicule and provincial officials called for an inquiry.

Very funny. My friends emailed this to me. I thought is was a joke when I heard about it. But it is REAL.!!! Oh Man !!! Ha Ha Haaaa... You have some really stupid police.
Had this taken place in Sindh, KP or Baluchistan, media and public would have gone berserk over the practices of the provincial police and government. However, this is Punjab. Nothing can be said to the 'untouchables' PML-N.

It's hilarious, yes, had it not been for the plight of the poor toddler and his perplexed and harangued family. Pakistan, already considered a joke by much of the world, has thus enhanced its credibility as a nation with stupid laws enforced by very stupid people.

What a country - whole areas outside the control of the government , police and army. Daily sectarian killings of Ahmedis , shia , christians and hindus . Suicide bombings and political assassinations. Pakistans lawyers celebrating the murder of opponents of the blasphemy laws. Americans carrying out drone attacks and helicopter raids killing OBL. And then you have a so called national " intelligence " agency that either did not know OBL was right under their noses OR they did know and still protected him - either way they look really stupid when the USA can sneak in UNDETECTED and kill him. And NOW this !!!. A baby accused in court and NOBODY thought to stop it BEFORE Pakistan became a laughing stock yet again.
Check out video of the 9-month baby's arrest on bbc or internet. The baby was brought to the police thana and was finger printed! I kid you not! Baby's father helped to roll his little fingers and thumbs in an ink-pad and a policeman took finger print on arrest papers (FIR?)!

Why the case against this child was not thrown when it was brought before the judge first time? Then Pakistan would not have become a laughing stock. The case against this child's relatives is because someone wants their land. There is no relief for them. Stop this nonsense and let the poorer sections of the society live free from fear of eviction.

I must applaud the strict application of the law in Pakistan! Pakistani law doesn't discriminate on the basis of age. The law is enforced even on a baby. That is true dedication to the rule of law. No other country in the world is as "undiscriminating" as Pakistan as far as the law is concerned.

When this absurdity was reported initially, I just thought it was crazy. But observing them taking it further by the so called judicial system has convinced that there's a method to their madness. How can one even think of charging an innocent little nine month old baby with attempted murder, they are the whole lot of them are mad and need to be committed to some corrective internment to mental institutes, all of them from the highest down to the smallest employee of this so called executive to law enforcement and the judiciary, all of them.

In Pakistan, laws are made only for the poor. Even a 9-month infant has to face the long and crooked arm of the law.
We are all waiting to hear what action has been taken against the Police officials who instigated this case. Such incidents bring a bad name to the country. Guardian [British daily Newspaper] published this report along with the photo of the Police officer fingerprinting the baby. Such incidents gives a bad publicity to the country as a whole. Will the Government act?
What a joke. Clearly, the kid did it and twisted the system. The mastermind gets off, and his innocent family now have to pay for his crime. You'd see that he will now go away to some foreign country and continue racketeering from there. Our honest police once again was made to pay for their awesome investigation skills and hard work.
This tragedy has been reported on every major newspaper in the World two weeks ago -- but just appearing in Pakistan .. why is that? I suppose the baby should be glad he wasn't charged with Blasphemy because no judge would have the guts to drop that charge.

'attached label' didnt solely focuses on the conviction, The fact that he was charged and his case was taken up rather than being dismissed at the first place and the attention of the media from all over the World will definitely have an adverse impact on the future of this baby. Be it with the educational forms or employment applications.
The only solution open to him is to stay strong and shut the mouths of those who will mock him for no reason though today they might even disagree with the judge :(

What a world we live in? Judge shouldnt have even waited for so long, Attempted murder is one of the most heinious crimes and now unfortunately this baby will have to live all his life with this attached label, SHAME on the upholders of law for not taking action against the initial offenders

This 9 months' old child definitely shall laugh on Pakistan's police's and judicial system when his parents will tell him when he will be grown that you have been accused of murder when you were 9 months old and a senior and experienced judge accepted your bail and then discharged your name from FIR and what will he think that time our blind police's and judicial system can imagine?????
