Help the engineers: Council demands special treatment
PEC has demanded the government help groom engineers after they graduate.
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has demanded the government help groom engineers after they graduate and also asked that engineers should be exclusively appointed as head of certain departments in universities. PEC chairperson Engineer Syed Abdul Qadir Shah presented the demands while addressing a press conference at the PEC office on Friday. Sindh PEC vice-chairperson Engineer Mukhtar A Sheikh and a member of the PEC PR committee, Majid Malik, were also present. “A service structure should be given to engineers, similar to what is provided to doctors,” demanded Shah. The chairperson said that the government has announced a service structure several times but it has never been put into practice. Shah was of the view that the engineers of the country should be made more competent. “Services academies should be built for engineers’ grooming and training,” he demanded.
