Illegal identity: Issuing CNIC to aliens raises concerns
Senator says many people were reportedly registered and given the identity of Pakistan by violating rules.

Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control, Senator Muhammad Talha Mehmood on Thursday expressed concern over issuance of computerised national identity cards (CNIC) illegally to aliens in the country. He said that many people were reportedly registered and given the identity of Pakistan by violating rules and regulations which has created law and order situation in the country. He also took notice of absence of the ministry official and non-compliance of the committee’s directive. Director general FIA told the committee that certain people received nationality for Rs5,000 after verification by a single official of the Special Branch. He said that NADRA chairman has not been appointed so far and the department was running in different hands.
