Terror plot foiled: BDS defuses explosive device in Karachi

Unidentified persons planted the device in a bag on Khalid bin Waleed Road.

KARACHI: A bomb disposal squad (BDS) defused a 13-kilogramme explosive device in Karachi, Express News reported on Wednesday.

Ferozabad police station's SHO said that a labourer told police that there was a 'suspicious' bag on Khalid bin Waleed Road and the BDS was called in to investigate.

The bag was placed near an under-construction building in a residential area.

According to a BDS official, the bag contained 13 kilogrammes of explosive material as well as ammonium nitrate, a wire and a detonator.­ He said that it was a manually operated device.

The material was defused before it could inflict any damage and was taken to Ferozabad police station.
