Using art as a tool to disseminate awareness, a poster competition based on the theme ‘Polio Free Pakistan’ was organised by the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC), in collaboration with Rotary Club.

A prize distribution ceremony for participants was held on Tuesday. With more than 40 participants from various institutions, the competition was adjudged by the famous artist Zarar Hyder Babari. The first three prizes were bagged by students from Government Post Graduate College for Women, 6th Road, Rawalpindi.

Sonam Malik stood first, while Hifza Haleema and Asma Naz were declared the first and second runner-ups, respectively. Iqra Hafeez from Government Degree College for Women Zafar ul Haq Road, Rawalpindi was awarded the fourth position. Lastly, the special prize went to Faryal Tanvir from Government Degree College for Women, Gawalmandi.

While providing a creative outlet, the poster competition aimed to acquaint the general public with the causes, symptoms and implications of the preventable disease, so as to facilitate its eradication nationwide. The event was attended by students, media and office-bearers of the RAC and Rotary Club.
