BAHAWALPUR: A child died and four were critically injured after a grenade they found while playing in the sand went off on Monday. Allah Ditta, a resident of Madina Chowk, Khairpur Tamewali, was visiting Toba Shaheedwala for the wheat harvest season. He and his family were working in the fields when his children Ahsan, 7, Haris, 5, and three others found a grenade buried in the ground. They thought it was a toy and started playing with it. Moments later the grenade went off and the five children were injured. They were taken to Bahawal Victoria Hospital where Ahsan succumbed to his injuries. The other children had received minor injuries and were later discharged.
