LAHORE: Lahore High Court Bar Association President Shafqat Mahmood Chohan on Monday said the government must end ad-hocism from country and appoint permanent heads of state institutions. He was addressing a press conference at the bar. Chohan pointed out more than 100 institutions had been working without heads and ad-hocism was promoted though this. Chohan also demanded that the government ensure foolproof security at all courts to prevent untoward incidents, especially clashes between the lawyers and police. Districts and tehsil bar associations will soon meet to give recommendations on court security. Chohan also requested the Pakistan Bar Council to withdraw its recently introduced experience criteria for candidates contesting the bar’s elections. He said the condition of having 15 years practice was unfair and discriminatory. He urged the PBC to end the criterion in the light of resolutions passed by the LHCBA and Lahore Bar Association.
